The Three Lions Bring Back Bukayo Saka While Bellingham, Foden & Grealish Are Left Out

Bukayo Saka in action

The Arsenal forward has recorded 12 goals in 44 games for the national team.

England have recalled the Arsenal winger for next week's games against Latvia and Wales, however no room for Jude Bellingham, Foden or Jack Grealish.

Arsenal forward Saka missed last month's World Cup qualifying victories over Andorra and Serbia with a hamstring issue.

Saka recently returned for his club and scored in their victory against Olympiacos on Wednesday.

Saka comes in for club colleague Madueke, who is sidelined until November because of a knee injury.

England face the Welsh in a warm-up match at Wembley on Thursday before a qualifying match in Latvia on October 14.

Should England triumph in Latvia, they will require a maximum of two points from their final two qualifiers against Albania and Serbia in the next month to qualify for the World Cup in North America.

Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah replaces Newcastle United’s Livramento, who is out for up to eight weeks following sustaining a knee injury against the Gunners last weekend.

Elliot Anderson and Spence, who earned their maiden national team selections previously, keep their spots. Loftus-Cheek also keeps his spot, despite the recovery of Wharton.

The attacker has only played one game for Tuchel since taking over as England manager, because of injury concerns.

The midfielder was absent from the previous squad as he recovered from a shoulder operation and has managed just a single start for his club since returning from injury.

The Manchester City player was left out from the coach’s last England squad following a dip in performance and has been unsuccessful in returning, despite a strong start to the campaign with Manchester City.

Grealish also misses out despite a revival in form with Everton. He has not played for the national team since October 2024.

'Attention turns to excluded players'

Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad draws attention to the players the boss has left out rather than the players he has selected.

Jude Bellingham's exclusion may cause surprise but the coach believes there is no need to bring back the Real Madrid star.

City’s Phil Foden and loanee Grealish have both performed well at the start of the campaign.

The players the manager used in the team’s qualifying victories versus Serbia and Andorra deserve the chance to continue.

It will bring disappointment that Arsenal's Madueke is not included because of a fitness issue.

The Forest player has settled well at international level.

Tuchel is a admirer of Grealish, especially, and also the City star.

If there is one surprise, it comes in the absence of Palace’s Adam Wharton.

The star, naturally, will be needed further down the line.
