The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Arrives, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed three new games officially announced for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
