Sony's Anaconda Movie Reboot Is a Really Good Concept
Regardless of how the studio's reimagining of creature feature Anaconda ends up, it's hard to deny its premise is strong: A pair of longtime buddies, dealing with middle-age restlessness, at last pursue their ambition of remaking the 1997 creature feature featuring J.Lo and Ice Cube. But faced with financial constraints and a disastrous snake-handling mishap, the duo decides to shoot on the fly, only to come face to face with a very real giant anaconda that wants to eat them.
Star-Studded Talent Roster
This fresh Anaconda has some beloved names attached: Frequent jungle-goer the energetic Jack Black and Ant-Man star Paul Rudd play wannabe filmmakers Jeff and Doug, respectively. Judging by the initial preview, released Wednesday, that Jack Black energy and Rudd's likable presence will go a long way to making Anaconda highly entertaining. Watching Black get chased from a gigantic snake with a boar carcass strapped to his body epitomizes cinematic fun.
