Rise, Sir David: Beckham Knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle Investiture

David Beckham was bestowed with a honorary title at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. The former England captain, 50, was one of the individuals receiving awards for his contributions to sport and philanthropy. Earlier this year, he stated he was “immensely proud” of being recognised in the monarch's annual honors list.

Football Career Highlights

The player made his Premier League debut for Manchester United in 1995 and was part of the team that secured a dramatic European Cup win in 1999 when they defeated the German giants with two late goals.

In total, he scored eighty-five scores and garnered accolades including six Premier League titles and two FA Cups as a soccer professional, before retiring from the sport in the past decade. In addition to his sports endeavors, he has supported a number of charity causes, including acting as a charitable representative for humanitarian aid organisation Unicef since 2005.

Philanthropy and Beyond

In the previous year, the sports star, who has referred to himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was named an official representative for the royal educational charity, an educational charity established by the monarch in 1990. In 1998 he was named most stylish man of the year by GQ magazine and he has posed for brands like H&M, Armani, and Boss.

Beckham tied the knot with Victoria in 1999 and the couple have four children together – their eldest, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.
