Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Missions Are Way Too Hard

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against some of the game's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced resorting to tailored sessions created through the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how demanding these missions have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives

Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but where most simply offer outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of getting 12 of the 41 main guns found within the game.

A number of these gated guns may soon find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at very short distances, which is not usually a position you want to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is challenging enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and possibly Operation Firestorm at a push if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so allies are not impaired?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if a number of these missions are toned down in the near future, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.

Currently, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous in-game tasks, hoping for a more balanced gaming experience in future updates.
